The season will consist of the following plays:
The Detroit 59'ers
THE DETROIT 59’ers is an original play inspired by true events. In 1959 a group of adventurers quit their jobs and left homes, family and friends to homestead in the wilds of Alaska. After serving in the Korean War, Elroy Fitzpatrick moves to the motor city in hopes of gaining employment and finding the wartime pen pal of a friend killed at the Frozen Chosin reservoir. After meeting Marge, the 59ers leader, the former marine’s plans are drastically changed, as he finds himself joining the caravan of Detroiters and traveling 4,000 miles in a station wagon of misfits all in hopes of answering the eternal question… does love at first sight ever work out?
THE DETROIT 59’ers is written and directed by Detroit native Patrick Moug and produced by the Detroit Ensemble Theatre. It premiers November 25th at the Michigan Actors’ Studio located at 648 E. 9 mile, Ferndale. It runs for three weekends – Friday and Saturday shows are 8 p.m. / Sunday shows are 2 p.m.
